Regional Institute of Education (RIE), Ajmer is a constituent unit of National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and it was set up in the year 1963. It looks after the educational interests of Northern Region comprising the states of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh, the National Capital Territory of Delhi and the Union Territory of Chandigarh. North East Regional Institute of Education (NERIE) was set up at Shillong to cater to the educational needs of the North Eastern states, viz., Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura. The NERIE provides academic and technical support system to assist and advise the state governments of the above mentioned states on policies and programs on all aspects of school education and reshape the state curriculum.
